When creating objects in the Use Case Diagram, ensure that you adhere to the following guidelines.
Proximity between related and associated objects
When creating use case diagrams with the JVision Diagram Painter, ensure sufficient gap between individual use cases and actors. A rule of thumb is to leave at least 1.5 inches between any two related or associated objects.
If the distance between objects is less than 1.5 inches, you may encounter errors after recreating the Use Case Diagram in Rational Rose. Possible errors include missing or extra labels, missing relationships, flawed relationships (direction-wise and between the wrong use cases and actors).
Proximity between unrelated objects:
When creating use case diagrams with the JVision Diagram Painter, ensure sufficient distance between individual use cases and actors. leaving a gap of at least 0.5 inches between any two unrelated objects. Otherwise you may encounter relationship or association errors after recreating the Use Case Diagram in Rational Rose.
